From this:
To this:
We can also sharpen mower blades, at $12.

Please note: although all customers have been satisfied - some even tipping.  One customer was furious* - that there were scratch marks on his display swords, and that they didn't cut tin cans.  Although we did not charge anything, and we tried to polish them out (our time and fuel 4x now - all for free!), my point is: if you have a display sword that must be "perfect", take it to the guy in the States who charges $1,500 (US) for polishing - that price does not include sharpening.

That said (written), if you have a sword that will be ok with wet stone scratches, I willl be happy to sharpen it for you.

And no, it won't look "like new".  Find the $1,500 guy for that. (no, I don't have his information - this is on your time.)
:-)

Also, please remember:  I pick-up (my fuel and time); I deliver (my fuel and time again), so this is included in my $35 price.

* a big "thank you" to all those who have given me TIPS - for the good sharpen.  They do help, and makes me want to keep up the good work!

"Razor sharp":
I sharpen swords to 22.5 degrees, so those who want a "razor" won't get that. It's sharp, but *useful* .  When you sharpen a blade to a razor's 7 degree.  It's really sharp, but as any shaving man will know - even cutting hair will dull it after 4 uses.  Swords have a much higher angle, so there is strength for hard uses.  If the metal is hard enough to do razor, we still don't de a "razor sharp" edge, because it will be nicked/folded very easy - even if youe barely touch a hard object.

Weapon making:

I take stainless steel piping, and sharpen one end.
Let me know if you are interested, but I must *have your word* that you will use it RESPONSIBLY.
I will not make any weapon for a gang, a criminal, or any "shady" person!

Self Defence: (or as I joke - around Christmas time - "Elf-defense")

Although I only teach seniors and women/groups, I teach both with weapons (even a broom handle) and "hand to hand combat": disarming a gun or knife, and how to rip their joint(s) apart - should they attack and have any advantage. I also teach simple things like (I won't give them away here! Ha ha!).

The reason I do not teach men or boys is: the XY chromosome has a natural advantage, and stastically, they are the ones that attack more often. I'm not helping men more than they already have!  :-)

For prices and lessons, text my tablet at 587-794-1223, or actually pick up the telephone and dial 780-942-2795. Remember: all lessons are "hands-on".  Video steaming is available, but it's not even close to "being there". Think of "kissing your spouse", and you will see what I mean.

NOTE: I require a chapperone at all lessons - a parent, office worker, etc.  Cameras are encouraged, but  I have you sign a promise that you will not sell it or distribute it in any way - it is only for Police review, which there will be no need - I have a Police check, as well as an FBI check in the USA.  I am there for business only!

I will add this:  When people watch movies or fights, it *seems* like "good times"... but it's funny how that works: it's never fun - when it's *you* that gets hurt / killed.   I don't teach fighting - I teach "self defence":  Annihilate your opponent, and "no mercy".  You *are* going to get hurt, but the point is for *you* to live.  Let the assailant die or get hurt badly.  Anyone who attacks an elderly or tries to snatch a girl for the sex trade - deserves anything you do to them.  Yes, I'm angry ... but then, *I* was abducted, so I know the horrors.    That is why I learned self defence (not "fighting").

Fighting / martial arts

Martial arts are "codified systems and traditions of combat practiced for a number of reasons such as self-defence; military and law enforcement applications; competition; physical, mental, and spiritual development; entertainment; and the preservation of a nation's intangible cultural heritage."  The concept of martial arts was originally associated with East Asian tradition, but subsequently the term has been applied to practices that originated outside that region.

Etymology
"Martial arts" is a direct English translation of the Sino-Japanese word (Japanese: 武芸, romanized: bu-gei, Chinese: 武藝; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: bú-gē; pinyin: wǔyì). Literally, it refers to "武 martial" and "芸 arts".
